Last spring, I was so taken by Kissey’s melancholic vocal take of Creep, I contacted her to find out more. As fate would have it, the Swedish vocalist/songwriter was crafting her new album in Manhattan, 10 blocks away from my apartment at the time.

I went over for a cup of tea and ended up with a one-way ticket to Kisseyland, lost for hours in her new funkdafied electronic pop creations. Since her debut album (Plethora on R2), Kissey dedicated the last few years to the art of beat-making, and the results are aimed straight at the moon: cosmic 4/4 pop that she sings, produces and masters all on her own. You can get a feel for her production style with the darkly-tinged Cry, available for free on her Soundcloud.
