When a small kid asked Nadya Vessey, who had both legs amputated, if she is a mermaid; the idea came to stay. So she contacted Weta Workshop in New Zealand, the team responsible for the special effects in Narnia, King Kong and Lord of the Rings. And presto: two years later, she has a fully working mermaid tail.

That’s pretty cool how the viewpoint of a little kid could brighten up an otherwise sad situation into something interesting.
