Tom Banwell’s brilliant steampunk gasmasks
The self-taught artist, Tom Banwell, who resides in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in northern California, is working majorly in the genre of steampunk in which he makes fascinating gasmasks, helmets and accoutrements which he stitches by hand out of formed oak-tanned leather.

I study illustration and graphic design in Nuremberg, Germany. I loved to draw since when I was a child and I started occupying myself intensively with illustration when I started studying four years ago. I’m in love with the combination of handmade things and the possibilities of digital editing. Read more

I am in love with the illustration style of Andrew Zbihlyj (pronounced, “zi – bee – lee”). His art, which is very detailed and dynamic, is handmade with different materials, including some harmful chemicals and fire. He is somehow able to draw the most beautiful vivid lines.

Stephen Doitschinoff, aka Calma (a Lost At E Minor banner artist), recently opened a solo exhibit entitled Novo Mundo at New York’s Jonathan Levine Gallery. The Brazilian street artist’s work is somewhat unusual and exudes an appealing spiritual vibe as he embraces the fantastical and dark imagery of churches painted in female wombs. Calma has developed his own unique language and style through imagery that creatively blends Afro-Brazilian folklore with Baroque religious iconography. ‘I personally see the church as an archaic institution that always aimed to control the masses. I think it is an appropriate symbol for corrupt modern institutions like big corporations, media channels and governments,’ he Calma. Novo Mundo is on show through until December 22.
Christopher Wallace’s drawing tools of choice are a bicycle and GPS. His canvas of choice is his Baltimore neighborhood. I’ve been reading Julia Wertz’s web comic, The Fart Party, which is simply a first person account of her every day life. The artwork is pretty rudimentary, but that works to the comic’s advantage, making it rather accessible and earnest seeming. Updated every few days, it’s not hard to keep up, and you never have to wait long to get your next fix.
This song for me is inspirational in two ways:- the actual live performance and the song itself. The song had never been played before. The guys that were playing together hadn’t met before and had only known each other for two hours. They managed to create a musical vibe and a beautiful song that made the audience and the two performers interlock in this musical whirlwind.
