Rune Guneriussen

Rune Guneriussen’s installation and photography artwork places man-made objects in the natural landscape of Norway, giving the impression of a surreal and dreamlike narrative.

I particularly love the images that feature lit-up objects in atmospheric darkened settings, such as lamps growing from trees or glowing globes lying in the snow.

Koalas to the Max

If you happen to be a fan of both time wasting and the art of pointillism (and let’s face it, who isn’t), Vadim Ogievetsky’s Koalas to the Max is the perfect site for you. Bringing together circles and experimental interactivity, users can reduce the size of the dots until an Easter Egg of sorts appears.

Brilliant Tom Waits and Cookie Monster mash-up

I’m ashamed to admit that after 26 years on this planet, I only recently started listening to the outstanding musical offerings of Tom Waits. However, it is true that he does sound a little like the Cookie Monster. This video collides their worlds to joyous effect.

I have followed the Clayton Brothers’ work since the mid-90s and had the pleasure of meeting them a few years back. Their art is a reflection of what great people they are. It’s really compelling to see their work in person. I love it and can’t get enough of it. I wish I had a lot more money so I could have a big one in my house.

Don’t Shoot the Puppy is one of the more difficult flash games out there, sure to engage you for hours. Strategy is the key, but quick reflexes and a photographic memory don’t hurt either. It’s rare that a computer game challenges the intellect and hand-eye coordination to this extent.

Down with OCD? Well, well so are we! And, so is this guy, who was nice enough to share some found photos and post them on his Tumblr page.

If you ever happen to find yourself riding across the mid-west on horseback with an iPod jangling about in your holster, be sure to let Calexico soundtrack the experience. They’re cleverly fusing a range of genres, mixing some good old country with US indie, a bit of jazz and even, in 2003’s Feast of Wire, some smatterings of electronica. Lead singer Joey Burns gives a healthy amount of cowboy twang and the soaring orchestral background and sweet country guitar licks add a real atmosphere to the music.

Listen to the Calexico song, Convict Pool.

The scientists explored the surface of our moon until they stood facing the foreboding presence of The Lunar Crystal. The two men stood in awe of the crystal’s existence. They stared without tact; oblivious to the inquisitive voices on the other end of their earpieces.
