Men-ups by Clickandclash

I don’t remember the last time I laughed out loud about a photo as much as I recently did when stumbling upon clickandclash’s men-up series. They are spoofing common gender roles in the most charming way.

The seven deadly sins by Christian Montenegro

The ‘seven deadly sins’ is a classical topic for an artist, it seems. As a fan of the Renaissance, I tend to prefer the traditional interpretation. However, Christian Montenegro, an illustrator from Buenos Aires, has come up with an interesting modernist version. Read more

Thank you for these photos. Please could someone post if they are available to buy? My husband teaches teenage boys on relationships, respecting themselves, women etc and these photos would be invaluable for him. Thanks

This fails at being provocative. You may as well have simply photographed hairy dudes in dresses, it would have the same effect and its been done to death. Its funny, but not as much as its uncomfortable and awkward. This serves as proof that some gender roles exist for a reason.

Mark Bradford is one of the most under-rated African- American artists, with captivating and stunning work. I first heard of him when I would glance at sites like Black Art in America as I was looking to see what was new in the black art world. I love his work and his story. His cityscapes and use of color are amazing. Read more

Films involving characters faced with an impossible choice never make easy viewing, an example being the Nick Cave Australian gem, The Proposition. A nightclub manager, played with understated power by Joaquin Phoenix, is the victim here, and you actually feel truly uncomfortable as his predicament unfolds. Set in the 1980s, We Own The Night shows a real nostalgia for that period — particularly in the costumes. Read more

I love Brooklyn band Durty Nanas. They were formed in 2005 and play street spaces, galleries, lofts, and block parties. So I guess they are the ‘real’ Bloc party.
