Carlos tells the epic tale of Venezuelan revolutionary Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, who in the 1970s and 1980s led a worldwide terrorist organization. Ilich, going by the code name Carlos, quickly gained notoriety for his terrorist acts, including a raid of the 1975 OPEC meeting in Vienna, before eventually being arrested in the 1990s.

Edgar Ramirez is wonderful as the charismatic Carlos, who was known as much for his abilities to charm women as for his brazen tactics. And French director Olivier Assayas beautifully captures his story in an engaging way that never loses your interest: even with a 330 minute running time.
