Acid Dancer: a new photo essay by Paul Kwiatkowski
Acid Dancer is a new editorial by writer and photographer, Paul Kwiatkowski. It is currently featured in the We Don’t Care issue of C-Heads Magazine. Acid Dancer is an excerpt from his upcoming novel and photo essay, And Every Day Was Overcast. It reads in part: ‘On the other side of Nicole’s door I heard the soft throb of trance music. I stopped short of knocking to breath in. I allowed a collection of scents — Aquanet hairspray, clove cigarette smoked, gas station incense—to settle in my lungs. Combined with Nicole’s feminine scent, I thought of an ocean I’d like to drown in’.

Listening to Mum’s fourth album — Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy — for the first time, I was awash with sentimentalism. Amidst carnival trumpets and burlesque beats, there’s a sense of this being a bohemian rhapsody. Perhaps it’s the mix of cello and brass with experimental electronica. Or maybe it’s just the soft vocals that cascade over playful, imaginative sounds. Whatever it is, it’s totally brilliant. [see also Sigur Ros' Heima]
