The Ricky Gervais Show animated TV series

Appearing in the Guinness Book of Records as the most downloaded podcast in the world, The Ricky Gervais Show, now turned animated mini-series, is simply one of the best smart-witted comedic shows I’ve come across.

Sporting hysterical banter from Gervais, Steven Merchant and the hilariously daft, but outright lovable, Karl Pilkington (the bud of all Gervais’ jokes), The Ricky Gervais Show exploits humour in the most interesting topics and, of course, encourages the ridiculous thoughts of Karl Pilkington.

Australian soul singer Alphamama

Boasting a combination of urban soul, electric, pop and reggae, Australian artist Alphamama encompasses a Queendom quality that will mesmerize and energize. With her ability to hit notes like a soul Mama, then just as easily rip into a Hip Hop beat with an impressive rap, Alphamama possesses fearless versatility. She releases her album, Truths, Trips and Revelations, at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on March 7.

Australian hip hop artist Iggy Azalea

At first glance, Australian hip hop artist Iggy Azalea seems like the typical girl next door. That is, if the girl next door could write and rap rhymes like the kids in the big league. At just 21, Azalea isn’t just a pretty face. She recently dropped her free to download mixtape, Ignorant Art and there’s no doubt the rapper will be joining the rest of the women making their mark on this formerly male dominated genre.

With his Newspaper Blackout pieces, writer and artist Austin Kleon uses a marker to black out all but a few select words printed in the New York Times, carving out little poems from the articles of the newspaper.

Dear Russian geneticists, please be serious and bring mammoths back to this planet, not just because I want to eat them, but because it would be effing sweet to ride one of them around.

I really, really love this blog. Renee Ruin covers art, fashion, trends, with an emphasis on tattoo, fetish and grunge culture and she digs up the most amazing stuff. Ruin seems to like the same artists I do, including the seriously talented Brian M. Viveros.

Now this is fun. The aptly named The Kooks cover the equally as aptly named MGMT for Australian radio network, Triple J. The song, Kids, is about as upbeat as any minor key progression can get. We like.

Minimalist cool meets urban grunge. This is Upper Metal Class, fine metal jewelry inspired by architecture, construction, math and science. Upper Metal Class already scored major points with their chic every-day friendly line, but there’s a major bonus to the brand: they are uber-environmentally conscious, constructing all goods from recycled metal in a wind-powered studio.
