The fashion photography of Traver Rains
Traver Rains is a man of many talents. Among them is a niche of fashion photography that is as rustic in look as it is modern.
Raised as a child on a horse ranch in Montana and spending his twenties in New York City’s fashion world as co-creator of Heatherette clearly inspired Rains’s ability to seamlessly mix two very different aesthetics together and invent a dynamic, highly editorial and unique brand of fashion photography.

Interestingly – you have suggested that it is the photographer alone who has created these incredible images,
I would like to ask; Who was the location scout and Who was the stylist as these are the 2 important elements of imformation you have left out – sure the photographer takes the image, but the sytlist would be the person who creates the elements inside the frame including the way the elements are proposed to the photographer and the location scout would have been the one to have found these fantastic run down houses and places and introduced the photographer to them initially.

Robyn- given Traver’s fashion background (as mentioned in the article he was a co-founder of Heatherette), he styled (as well as made all the wardrobe for) all the photos above by himself.
And believe it or not, he was the sole location scout too, as the photos were taken on his family’s homestead in Montana.
Hope that clears up your initial assumptions…
