Thirtyseventy: a short tribute to Northcote, Melbourne
A couple of weeks ago, I was approached to produce a short film to showcase the wonderful suburb of Northcote, Melbourne. I decided to enlist the talent of Northcote resident and DOP, Sasha Whitehouse. What he came up with is quite profound. Check it.
Loom is a beautiful short film that tells the story of a successful catch. Directors Jan Bitzer, Ilija Brunck, Csaba Letay have produced some dark but stunning images.
Brilliant stop motion film about going hairless
Director Peter Simon managed to convince his friend Tom Offer-Westort to spontaneously cut off all his hair and beard. This resulted in the short but sweet stop-motion animation, TRIM. It would be a great advert for a barber shop!

The large scale of Clare Woods’ work is impressive, to say the least. I’m digging her technique: the thick, impasto stroke backgrounds contrasting with meticulously busy foregrounds. However, seeing the painter’s psychic landscapes from afar really puts her use of scale into perspective and blows my mind.

Castevet are a promising new experimental black metal band out of New York. They have a much more complex and technical approach than other bands of this ilk, revealing post-hardcore and death metal influences as evidenced by guitarist Andrew Hock’s work in deathgrind outfit Biolich and Boston jazz/death/doom band Ehnahre.
