Chucky Takes New York

To this day, I still cannot sleep in the same room with a freaking teddy bear thanks to the Chucky movies. When I was nine years old, my brother put a Chucky doll under my covers while I was sleeping, then crawled under my bed and made noises. Needless to say, I woke up crapping myself. I still check the backseat of my car and my covers, just to prevent Tom Foolery.

Claps And Autotune for Lovers directed by Cathrine Westergaard

The reaction to Claps And Autotune For Lovers has been amazing. To be honest, it was a record I kind of just stumbled upon. I literally woke up one morning after a show and decided to screw around with some clapping patterns. I called my engineer and just recorded the mess that was being painted in my brain. Read more

Allee Willis: songwriter, internet pioneer and film creator

I traveled to LA about a week ago for some writing and other business and while there, I had the chance to meet and have a writing session with Allee Willis. This woman is one of the most amazing and eccentric people I have ever met. Besides writing Boogie Wonderland, Dancing in September, and the Friends theme song, she’s an accomplished internet pioneer and film creator. Check out her website, it looks exactly like her house. No joke!

Dragon Ball Z (Top 10 attack moves)

Dragon Ball Z had a huge effect on my childhood. I was obsessed with this show until it stopped airing for a minute. Six cliff hanger episodes in a row?! Where nothing happens at all!?! Priceless stuff, people.

Pop artist agitator Ron English has a new tea and saucer set out, hardly rock n roll, but as politically savvy and rascally as we would expect from him. There are only 250 of these bone china cup and saucer set, which were made in Stoke-on-Trent, England.

Great to see that our friends over at South African low cost airline Kulula are still flying with a mischevious metaphorical smile wiped right across their planes. Cheeky? Yes. But we love the irreverence. Read more

This awesome promo video for the Lost At E Minor site was created by our friends over at New York-based design studio, Lifelongfriendshipsociety. It’s all about looking into a black mirror and seeing the creative energy burst back out at you. We think it’s very cool and the first in what we hope will be a series of short videos exploring what it really means to be lost at e minor. Hit us up if you’d like to have a go at creating one.

Cement isn’t usually thought of as a light and airy material, but A4estudio’s Sobrino House in Mendoza, Argentina may change that with it’s relaxed, open, and earthy feel. Read more

This is a simple blog featuring photos of Charlie, a coyote who lives with a person and some other animals. There are a lot of cute animal photoblogs out there, but this one is more concerned with motion, elegance, outdoor scenery, and frequent use of Old West-y sepia tones that highlight Charlie’s amazing fur texture. I got to check out Extra Golden the other night at the Floristree in the H & H Building in downtown Baltimore. Despite a bill of heady, contemplative, experimental music that preceded the DC-based band, the crowd was chomping at the bit to see them when they finally hit the stage well past 1am. It’s still cold and rainy here in Charm City, but these guys made it feel like summer with their sunny blend of Kenyan benga music and guitar-driven psych rock.

ALAS is a sleepwear label from two clever lasses Betony and Kelly. Mindful of our precious environment their philosohy is rather zen and based on sustainability. Their gorgeous pajamas are 100 percent organic cotton and are fair trade accredited, too. Read more

Pitched as ‘Ulterior Motives in Contemporary Art’, Disorder Disorder is running until November 14 at Penrith Regional Gallery.
