Pakistan After Bin Laden: a VBS TV documentary
by This is part one of a two part episode of VBS TV’s intrepid Pakistan Trilogy, which began with the Webby Award Winning Gun Markets in Pakistan in 2006 and was followed by The Taliban in Pakistan in 2010.
Vice founder, Suroosh Alvi, returns to the turbulent nation, travelling to Bin Laden’s infamous compound, chatting with Osama’s neighbors, and visiting a local university to see what people really think about having lived next to America’s most vilified fugitive for the past five years. Unsurprisingly, their concern lies less with the proximity of Bin Laden than the chaos that his death has sparked. It seems anti-American sentiment has never run higher.

No Age are doing something different to the mass of noise-laden, guitar-drum duos canvasing the lo-fi airwaves at the moment. I’m just not sure quite what. Their album, Nouns, is receiving top-rate reviews after sell-out crowds after screaming, obsessive fans. The music is simply massive: a vast landscape of heat haze, somehow both tranquil and manic, punctuated by singer Dean Sprouts backdrop of barely intelligible vocals and Randall’s distorted, archaic sounding drums.
