Log Bowls by Loyal Loot Collective
Loyal Loot Collective makes this stunning collection of bowls made out of logs. A variety of fallen and discarded trees are locally collected, repurposed into bowls, and then finished in a beautiful range of colors.
The bowls are designed by Doha Chebib, who is one of four designers making up this Canada-based collective. Though they are probably appreciated more for their design than their practicability, these log bowls would still be an eye-catching addition to any table.

Amazing dance moves by the Nicholas Brothers
If Fred Astaire called this performance ‘the greatest dance number ever filmed’ then you know it has to be good. Sporting original dance moves that put today’s pop dancers to shame, the Nicholas Brothers show off their self-taught skills in this amazing scene from Stormy Weather. And the leap frog at the end? Wow.

David Maisel’s awesome X-rays of art photo series
David Maisel’s photoseries entitled History’s Shadow explores art objects from antiquity in a new light. He photographed x-rays of the Getty Museum’s permanent collections that had been taken for the purpose of art preservation. His photos create a detachment from the original artwork, while illustrating how each piece is still alive. The results are serenely beautiful. Read more
Trailer for the independent film Martha Marcy May Marlene
The independent film Martha Marcy May Marlene is now at the top of my Must See list. Doesn’t it look amazing? It’s about a young woman (Elizabeth Olsen) who escapes from a cult and is trying to rebuild her life. It just came out in limited release in the US. The rest of us will have to wait a little longer.

Pre-eminent Norwegian Viking metal band Enslaved has evolved over the years from a straight-forward black metal band into a moody, post-rock outfit without completely abandoning their roots. Their last few albums have seen a shift towards English lyrics, sweeping and majestic instrumentals, and diverse influences — everything from Pink Floyd and ’70s prog and psych rock to ’80s goth and shoegaze pop. When I first stumbled upon local label, MUSE by Good Mixer, in Bangkok, I knew I’d found something special. In an industry plagued by copycat designers struggling to find their own identity, you’ve got to admire the ones who have carved an original signature style. By taking unlikely inspiration from American football and mixing it with Eastern influences, the latest collection by designer Chaichon Savantrat plays masculine sportswear against exotic evening wear. Teaming structured shoulder silhouettes with free flowing fabrics, Savantrat uses a palette of black, white and red to showcase intricate embroidery. And with pieces for both men and women, he’s got both teams covered. Read more
