Window Farming
Last Fall, I moved to a flat with a balcony and this Spring I really fell in love with ‘gardening‘. Things taste better and look better when you grow your own! 50 years from now, when we’ve ruined nature, sucked all nutrients from the soil, and the cities look like a Mad Max movie, we are bound to use our windows as replacements for gardens, fields and forests.

Max Essa: How Do You Feel? (Kim Ann Foxman remix)
The mix from Beats in Space 04.05.11 contains the longest clip I could find of her remix of Max Essa’s (ft. DC Mathias) How Do You Feel (starting at 12:18). And that remix is the shit! Such nice sounds, such nice groove, such nice hi-hats. Dreamy, laid back house that just keeps flowing like a warm and happy river around your dancing feet.
D.A.F: Liebe Auf Den Ersten Blick
It took me some time to realize that D.A.F is crazy good. The funkiness of the production just makes the feet move. If you want to learn German, it’s really good to listen to D.A.F because they keep repeating every phrase over and over.
Damon Albarn: The Reigning Queen
Some voices just need some ageing and some melodies are better not fully structured. Here it sounds like Damon Albarn is very eager to express something: his words are just flowing. I love the sad and comfortably numb feeling the song creates. This also makes me think of the Blur song, Out Of Time.

Karl Pilkington is probably my favorite person in the world. If you don’t know of him, he’s the personal punching bag of Ricky Gervais. You may have heard his voice on the animated Ricky Gervais Show or seen him on An Idiot Abroad. This website has collected a wealth of his idiotic (and brilliant) sayings. Click on his round head and get a quote.

Named after the first openly gay politician in US history, Harvey Milk make some rather testosterone-heavy tunes. While appealing mostly to the stoner-rock and indie-metal set, the quintet from Athens, Georgia, aren’t afraid of a little melody, as the almost pop track Motown on their latest album, Life … the Best Game in Town, proves. But more often than not, the band gets down and dirty with some knuckle-dragging sludge rock. Amid the haze of searing guitar squeals, menacing power chords, and seismic bass rumbling, though, are some almost math-rock flourishes that hint at the brains behind the brawn.
Threads or Dead is a new Australian-based online clothing store, based in Perth, and selling streetwear and contemporary fashion for both guys and girls. Says site founder Justin Greenwood: ‘As well as stocking some of the more well known brands, we also import a lot of labels exclusively from America, and produce a small range of our own clothing. We want to sell clothing that is unique and often has a story behind it. We don’t want to sell clothing that is available in your average High Street store’. Read more
