Robin Schwartz shoots her daughter with animals

Robin Schwartz’s daughter is one lucky girl to have such an amazing photo album of a childhood surrounded by amazing animals. These surreal photographs are almost like a recreation of an imaginary childhood we wish we all had.

Pajama Wedding photo series by Steven Hughes

Photographer Steven Hughes documents what might be a first in weddings. Christine and Jim’s theme for their wedding was Saturday Morning. It involved all of the things the couple liked doing together on relaxing Saturday mornings: wearing PJs, drinking coffee, eating breakfast and crossword puzzles. Steven has beautifully captured it all in his photos on his blog. Read more

Posted as an “Awww wow, great pictures” kind of thing, this is absolutely irresponsible. Maybe not all of those animals pictured are as dangerous, but chimpanzees are incredibly strong, vicious unpredictable terrors when they are spooked. Only the naive would ever allow their child anywhere near one.
People who have lived with them in their homes have paid dearly. Letting themselves be lulled into cartoon-views of these animals will only lead to horrific injuries or death.
(And let me be clear – I have nothing against chimpanzees, only against humans taking chimpanzees out of their natural habitats for what amounts to exotic pets. Like what one commenter said – treating animals like accessories is insulting and dangerous for them, too.)

I was in the room once with a spooked spider monkey. It went all over the place at lightning fast speed, his feces flying everywhere. I feared for my safety, as he was probably fearing for his own. I agree with the previous poster. Absolutely irresponsible. What’s more precious the safety and security of your child or a photo for profit?

I love the ominous, moody atmosphere of young Swedish-Finnish photographer Martina Lindqvist’s landscape shots. She’s only just graduated from university, but already has the Jerwood Photography Award 2008 under her belt and a spot in the prestigious UK Portfolio Magazine. Much of her work is done in Finland: there’s a real dream-like surreality to the images she captures and a great use of light against dark backdrops. Read more

This blog is in the point of view of celebrity toddler Suri (Cruise) who comments on people who disappoint her. Satirical humour at its best.

Wolf and Cub are back with a brand new single and after listening to it, I feel like I should be out in the streets, warning my neighbours of the apocalypse. The song is huge, forceful, damming and painfully exciting. Joel Byrne’s half-drawl, half-howl proclaims the end, while (in true Wolf and Cub) the drums are epic and unsettling. And then, that moment, the bass against the fading echoes. My heart broke and my brain exploded. It’s too much to take. This band will be the death of me.

Illustrator Hope Gangloff has a stack of her ‘election’ tees from the previous US election available for sale which she created with the talented New York-based artist (and her hubbie, no less!), Ben Degen. Even though they were done to mark Bush’s reappointment, they still kinda sum up her mood on the tussle between Obama and McCain. ‘If the election gets stolen’, she says. ‘What say we burn down the capital instead of blogging about it?’. Hmmm, now there’s an idea.
