Brandpowder

We are immersed in a fast, accelerating environment with no time for contemplation. We devour things without retaining much. In my work, I like to slow down, recycling images and messages, playing with objects and brands, in an attempt to extract a sort of fine powder: the unconsumed beauty of things.

Bull-leaping: a friendlier form of bull-fighting

One giant leap for mankind! This eco version of bullfighting is called bull-leaping, a sport where the man, and not the bull, risks their life. In this competition, the armless ‘recortador’ invites the bull to charge, only to avoid his fury at the last second. The athletic leaps and summersaults reminds me of a brave dance of courtship between man and animal.

The demise of our beloved print medium is a harsh reality that a lot of independent magazines have been dealing with for the past five years at least. So we all frequent a ton of different sites that we like and one in particular that’s really given itself a pick-me-up online, for the better good of longevity and legacy, is Planet magazine. Originally hailing from Kendal, Cumbria and now based in Leeds, the Wild Beasts foursome are the next hopefuls for Domino Records, who sent the group out to Sweden to record their first album, Limbo, Panto, released on June the 16th. The new single — The Devil’s Crayon — shimmers in wide-screen around a sense of location, melody and wonder at the scale of things. Indeed, it sounds like the theme song to a new kind of very English road movie.

I recently photographed the launch party for Mutewatch, a really cool new watch that works just by swiping it just like an iPhone. Very cool. Nice party as well.
