While researching my end of year trip to South America, I stumbled across a cute little historical town in Brazil called Paratay. Apparently it’s known for its 19th century colonial architecture, but I can’t tell you a thing about that. I’m too busy imagining what my life would be like if I called this palatial beach house my casa. Maybe I’d be a Brazilian swimwear designer and use the beachfront pool to host collection launches. Or perhaps I’d dabble in some sort of illicit trade, making the boat-only access more of a necessity than a luxury. Read more

These photographs are so good I bought the book. I discovered Merkley??? on Flickr. This bearded photographer is a slightly unnerving straight-talking San Franciscan whose images of friends (mainly wannabe models) push the boundaries of symmetry, skin tone, colour and pleasure to the very limits.
Improv Everywhere strikes again with a spontaneous musical in a Los Angeles mall. Wireless microphones hooked up to the mall’s PA system ensured the feeding masses didn’t slip into Cinnabon-induced comas until after the show was over. Note especially the angry dude in sunglasses at about 2:51 — apparently he thinks nothing can ever top Rent.
Look closely at the froth of this latte and you’ll see a portrait carved out amongst the grains and milk. It’s a truly a work of art and it’s a feature of the coffee served at Richmond, Melbourne cafe Flavours of Lakhoum. Check, please!
This is a friend of mines’ blog. Her name is Nirrimi. She takes really amazing photos, and she makes great little films, too. I did the music score for one a while back.
