The Places In Between by Rory Stewart
I recently went to Afghanistan on a major photo mission. It was the most interesting experience I’ve had in my professional work as a photographer. And challenging in far more ways than I had imagined. In preparation, I did a fair amount of research about the Taliban, recent politics, and the various kings and warriors of the past who raped and pillaged.
For a more modern perspective, I read Rory Stewart’s diary of his experience walking across Afghanistan. It is a fascinating insight into a generally misunderstood, ancient land and people, and an easy, accessible read.

Awesome 1970s anarcho-punk by Crass
This anarcho-punk band from late 70s London were an example of rebellious music aimed at England’s class politics at that time. I still see crusty kids dressed as punks wearing the Crass emblem and logo, hoping they understand the story behind the look. This song, Walls, is one of the few anarcho-punk disco tunes I’ve heard of. The Crass Records label put out the band, KUKL, which featured Bjork on vocals at age 15. Awesome.

Stereomood is better than a freshly baked croissant. Okay, maybe you can’t eat Stereomood, but you can listen to it during cooking time. Just as I was waving good-bye to my iPod and closing the drawer I was burying it in, a friend of mine sent me a link. I was filled with complete happiness and optimism. The world will be okay, I thought to myself. I proposed to said friend as I was feeling quite romantic during our candlelit dinner and was rejected. I mm now feeling quite lonely, with a slight hangover.
Méduse is a self-initiated project that I started while studying in London. I was printing a jellyfish inspired series of t-shirts and bags which I was selling or giving to friends. The concept has evolved a bit since then. I try to find time to launch two series’ a year, available only online.

The newest giclee print from Rebel Unlit, Inquiry into Jellyfish, is an adventure in mixed media. We love the subtleties of this piece, which could be missed at first glance: the transparencies, the color distress, the foreground texture. We’re also a pretty big fan of that jellyfish. Inspired by Haruki Murakami’s The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, this limited-edition piece is printed on cotton matt archival 310gsm paper and is available now in the Lost At E Minor online store.
