|Siobhan Feehan’s conceptual work plays on the complex relationships we have with visualized language, using flags, skewed musical scores, scrabble pieces, and installations evoking the lines of a soccer field or tennis court.
Viewers feel compelled to decipher and even act according to the familiar-looking icons and symbols of Feehan’s work, but their abstractness and lack of concrete instruction creates a sense of wonder and confusion, much as a person might feel when first arriving in a completely foreign culture.
