Greg Craola Simkins

Greg “Craola” Simkins is hands-down one of my favourite artists. His work has been an inspiration from the very beginning. Incorporating a delicate blend of the surreal, graffiti stylings and more recently, classical art, the fluid movement of his compositions and the beautiful use of light and colour have had me entranced for years now.

Daniel Clowes

Daniel Clowes is a comic book artist with a great eye for detail and a fantastic storyteller. There are very few artists out there whose work can be as faithful to the human condition as Clowes’ is. A great measure of raw emotion can be found in a single colour screen print made by this classy gent, which is something you can’t find often these days. Read more

Adventure Time: the best cartoon since sliced bread

So call me juvenile, but I still enjoy watching cartoons. Adventure Time is, to be honest, the Adventure Time. The characters are insane and the story makes absolutely no sense a lot of the time, but that’s what makes it so DAMN good.

Finnish folk band Gjallarhorn is named for the horn that the Norse god Heimdall blows to announce Ragnarock — the end of the world. The bands music is far from dark, however: their brand of Scandinavian folk music incorporates mouth harps, fiddles, flutes, and even didgeridoo in a melange of cheerful, but ethereally beautiful tunes sung in Swedish.
