Extra Happy Ghost!!! give away their new single
Extra Happy Ghost!!! will be releasing our debut full length album, Modern Horses. We recorded this album with Chad VanGaalen at Yoko Eno Studio in Calgary, and we’re very excited to share it with those who may enjoy it. Here is a link to the first single, So At One. This is the best DIY thing ever. In their words: ‘Choose Yer Own is a festival based on sweet adventure, and built around a love for Calgary and the many great projects that happen here. Choose Yer Own is a collaborative festival. Anybody can put anything on, which means the festival is always unpredictable and surprising, and also meaning that the festival is built by you: the participants, passerbys, and accidental organizers of the various events’.

Weird Canada is a music review site that ‘aims to highlight the emerging and boundary pushing musical adventures taking place in Canada, with a focus on regional peculiarities’. I first came across Weird Canada in 2009; they were one of the first websites to review How the Beach Boys Sound to Those With No Feelings (our debut EP). Weird Canada covers a lot of the bands that many other Canadian review sites won’t touch – at least not on their own terms.

Extra Happy Ghost!!! doesn’t sell many records. As a result, I work a couple of jobs to help pay rent and subsidize touring. My main job is as a reference assistant at the Calgary Public Library (we have a great library system here and it employs a number of artists and musicians like myself), and twice a week, I also work at Milk Tiger. I’ve worked here for a year, but I have been coming here for much longer. A very cool, conversational place, with fantastic cocktails.

My friend and fine artist Sara Wolfe sent me this link of Chicago based artist Diego Leclery. He created this flash animation Panda, to celebrate the recent Beijing Olympics. He initially said he would take it down after the closing ceremony, but it is still up, so watch this cool one before it’s gone!
