Brilliant one line drawing series by Eemz
Eemz is an illustrator and mixed-media artist from Cairo. She has recently come up with a one line drawing series that I find quite adorable. Lots of her motifs look like minimalist doodling interpretations of characters from the Arabian Nights or the Pharaonic period. But more often than not, the band gets down and dirty with some knuckle-dragging sludge rock. Amid the haze of searing guitar squeals, menacing power chords, and seismic bass rumbling, though, are some almost math-rock flourishes that hint at the brains behind the brawn.
When I first saw the freakishly long, beaded Ghostdancer earrings on a friend of mine, I was shocked to actually be looking at something undoubtedly inspired by Native American art that didn’t actually insult someone’s culture. Read more
