Tiger Baby
The Danish electro-pop trio Tiger Baby has been around for a few years, mostly known in their home country. I’ve listened to their new single, Crystal Ball, a lot. And I love it. Melancholic disco pretty similar to what I’m doing myself, though the sound is a bit rougher, reminiscent of French blog disco, á la Jupiter.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
This is a book from 2003 written from the point of view of a boy with Asperger’s syndrome, a math genius with difficulties interpreting other people’s feelings. I really got the sense of stepping into some other person’s head, into a different world, when I read it. It’s an unusual, sad, but also very charming book.

If you come to Berlin, then I recommend this little shop, Dederon Design, specializing in stuff manufactured in, or inspired by, the former GDR (East Germany). Everything from ice cream cups to LP racks and toys. The woman running the shop even designs bags in some weird GDR-invented plastic material.
Goldmund: the ambient music of Keith Kenniff
Portland-based ambient artist, Keith Kenniff, releases piano music as Goldmund on labels like Type Records and Western Vinyl. I’ve had the albums by Goldmund on frequent repeat this year. The music is so calm and perfect to listen to when the head is tired. The compositions are simple and elegant. Read more

If ever there were an apt description of our time, it would be that we are the ‘mobile generation’, in every sense of the word. We are a people of movers, we are offered choice on so many levels. And, in this way, we are far removed — both in ideology and practice — from those generations before us, who were generally more static and certainly less transitory. Read more

The frontman for Sydney trailblazers, Paper Scissors, has just dropped his first solo EP under the alias of Pork Pies, and it’s an absolute beaut. Like the Paper Scissors’ more low-key numbers, there’s a real feeling of raw nostalgia running through the record. Jai Pyne’s distinctive vocals linger on your eardrums for a while after they’ve ceased, anchored down by a poignancy and sense of longing.
