One of my favourite curated art blogs is Booooooom! The site is based in my backyard of Vancouver and features a wide variety of different visual artforms, whether its paintings, photography, design work, and sometimes even videos. I find that I’m always inspired when I visit this site. I think Jeff, the site’s creator and curator, and I have really similar tastes.
Geotic: a new ambient project of Will Wisenfeld
Ever since I first heard Mend, I’ve been borderline obsessed with this minimal/ambient project of Will Wisenfeld, aka Baths. In celebration of his 20,000th fan on the Baths’ Facebook page, Wisenfeld dropped a new EP entitled Bless The Self, which is a seamless, quiet, pulsing work.
Brian Eno’s Always Returning (For All Mankind)
Always Returning (For All Mankind) has joined the ranks of songs like Blue In Green by Miles Davis and Heysatan by Sigur Ros, as a song that will always devastate me. Read more

We got the inside word from Josh Diamond of New York experimental group, Gang Gang Dance, on the music that is moving him right now and he started off by propping the beautiful Ryuichi Sakamoto track, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence: ‘It’s just an amazing piece of music — serene, austere (in a heavy, beautiful way), emotional, a great mix of electronic sounds, patient, and a wonderful melody, with a quality of yearning for a better place. Every time I listen to this song, it puts me in a trance’. Read the rest of Gang Gang Dance’s Secret Playlist.

There’s not much one can say about an artist who has recorded more than 400 albums — even if you manage to listen to a large portion them, there’s a good chance you’ve missed something. Good thing, as far as I know, R. Stevie Moore is the only person who has released that many records (Daniel Johnston may come close), many of which were cassette-only or printed in limited numbers. Virtually unknown for decades, the obsessive music geekdom that has reached a fever pitch as this generation of fans has allowed Moore to keep his relentless flow of Zappa-esque weirdness, power-chord pop, tongue-in-cheek ballads, satirical new wave, and whatever else we’ve most certainly missed, gushing out into the universe.
