Museum Exhibitions as Movie Posters

Illustrator Christopher Versackas and The L Magazine have teamed up to bring us the Summer Blockbuster Season at the Museum, with a collection of ten illustrations of the summer’s must-see museum exhibitions redone as quirky movie posters!.

Everything from the The Boratesque Agit-prop Comedy of Francis Alÿs’s artwork at the MoMA to the The Budget-Flaunting Effects Extravaganza of Hans-Peter Feldmann’s pieces at the Guggenheim. These exhibits are bigger, bolder, hotter, and in 3-D.

New video for When The Night Falls by Chromeo

It took a few viewings for me to fully come to terms with my feelings for When The Night Falls, but ultimately my love for P-Thugg in yellow was the final push that persuaded me. Leave it to Canadian duo Chromeo to take every guy’s nightmare (pregnant Zombie-like ladies chasing after them) and make it so darn catchy.

Finders Keepers Records

I came across the British record label Finders Keepers within a little music shop in Austin, Texas, of all places. Browsing through the CD shelves looking for a good mix to help fuel my road-trip back to California, I spotted a spooked-out psychedelic jazz score to a 70s Czech horror film. It was so random and so strange that I knew that I had to have it. Read more

In the lead-up to one of the most anticipated and controversial Olympic Games in Beijing, Boston.com cobbled together a bunch of surreal photos from the wires that depicts the hyper-sanitized, white-washed, and quasi-futuristic city Beijing has become. Read more

Driven by a wide spectrum of influences, the music of Brass Bed moves easily through an eclectic mix of genres: from alt-country ballads and progressive rock hooks, to sticky-sweet, heart-felt lyrics, and dissonant experimental freak-outs. As some wise folk have noted, it’s kinda like a cross between The Beach Boys and The Flaming Lips. Now, how could that be a bad thing? We have two of their songs — Olivia [listen below] and Polar Bird — available for free download in the Music Download section in the third column of Lost At E Minor.

Ring out the bad, and ring in the good, Yessir, these Happy Day and Crappy Day rings are just that: a jolt of brutal realism cloaked in saccharine sweet colourings.
