Jeremy Geddes
I literally get sick to my stomach with jealousy every time I see a new Jeremy Geddes painting. The level of detail and mood that he is able to create with each piece is insane and somehow they just keep getting better and better.
He’s releasing a large print of his painting A Perfect Vacuum soon that I would do very bad things to own. His blog has more info as well as a lot of process and detail shots of other works. It’s really inspiring and motivating to scroll through.

Kane and Unke shirt collaboration with Nate Frizzell
I’ve been a big fan of their clothing for a quite a while now, so I was more than excited to collaborate on a couple shirts with Kane and Unke. We pulled a couple pieces from my show last spring and I think they translate pretty well. Watch out for them to drop soon.

Not a lot of architecture firms think a lot about the demolition of old houses unless it’s as a means to make way for new buildings, but Hutchinson and Maul of Seattle drilled holes in condemned farmhouses, sometimes inserting tinted acrylic rods in them, creating beautiful displays of light as the sun streamed in and giving the structures a flourish of renewed life before their ultimate destruction. I discovered Henryk Siemiradzki after doing a Wikipedia search on the word decadence and found a whole lot of his art. The detail is insane.
Australian group Pivot have recently signed with the mighty Warp label and — even better (well, for us anyway) — have written a fun Secret Playlist for us. You can see where the many disparate influences have seeped into their latest recording, the beautiful and colourful, O Soundtrack My Heart.
Melbournes laneways are cluttered with themed, designer bars. The challenge seems to be which is the most hip, funky and individual bar. Step in Section 8, an old inner city carpark furbished with warehouse pallets, patio heaters and a couple of freight containers, converted to serve you drinks. The vibe is fittingly low-key, with background music played at a reasonable level, frequently changing decor, and a variety of options to quench your thirst. It’s casual, fun and simple. Oh, and to keep it that way, there’s even a no suit policy! [photo via TravelMuse]
Activists from all walks of life — architects, artists, children, students, skaters, and more — are documented on the Tools for Actions website, aiming to show us how, whether deliberate or not, the tiniest or the biggest project driven by the quietest or loudest voice can trigger radical change in today’s urban centres. It’s an inspiring blog, particularly for those feeling disempowered. Read more
UK-based one-man-band Sieben has a new album out: As They Should Sound. Frontman Matt Howden builds songs with a loop pedal and a violin, which he uses for rhythm and melody. His sound is wonderfully sophisticated and cabalistic, with a particularly British sense of lyricism.
