When I was 21, I was making stupid collages out of porn because I didn’t have any better ideas and the program I was in didn’t encourage straight up illustration. Tom Dorkin, on the other hand, has developed an impressively sophisticated and striking style, especially considering his age.

I came across Nigel Cox’s work at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. I was blown away by his remarkable, detailed figures and his minimal compositions. His paintings are subtly powerful and filled with optimism and confidence.
