This is a collaboration between a couple of buds of ours — Julian Labat (bassist in our band BOBBY) on sounds and Sally Richardson on video. These guys were mapping the VHS/Synthesizer trajectory long before I or most people had any foresight of the current trend. If pixels were edible, I’d sink my teeth into this first. In the relatively short amount of time I have spent browsing the .0000001% of the music blogs floating around, I’ve often (not always) found myself feeling that, one, I miss writers when I’m cornered into digesting five-worded, genre-filled prefaces to an artist I’ve not yet heard and, two, that I must be moving on anyway because there are 500 more bands to go. Founded and run by a gent named Julian Schoen out of Santa Cruz, CA. I really favor this blog for its non-implicit and colorfully tasteful writing.

After witnessing a few dance videos he made some years ago, I was astounded to see someone on crutches dominate the earth beneath his feet with such grace, fluidity, and creativity. Wolf and Cub are back with a brand new single and after listening to it, I feel like I should be out in the streets, warning my neighbours of the apocalypse. The song is huge, forceful, damming and painfully exciting. Joel Byrne’s half-drawl, half-howl proclaims the end, while (in true Wolf and Cub) the drums are epic and unsettling. And then, that moment, the bass against the fading echoes. My heart broke and my brain exploded. It’s too much to take. This band will be the death of me.
