Amazing portrait photography by Madame Yevonde

Madame Yevonde was an eccentric female photographer in the early 20th century. Her works appeared in fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. She shot many famous stars and society celebrities in her time.

One of my favourite photography series of hers is ‘the godesses’ collection, where society ladies from back in the day were dressed in classical costumes impersonating Greek and Roman godesses. ‘Be original or die’ was her motto. She was a truly creative spirit and a role model for modern female artists.
