Betsy Walton
I secretly want to inhabit the kind of hazy dream world, thrumming with softly vibrant colors and fantastical yet familiar flora, that artist Betsy Walton renders. The people there seem so calmly happy. I guess I’ll have to keep meditating and shedding my earthly concerns to get there.

Awareness Raps: Amber Tamblyn tricks Tyrese Gibson
When I read this article about Amber Tamblyn tricking Tyrese via email into thinking she was Amber Rose, I had no idea who either Amber was. Now I know.

Drawings of animals by Maria Elina
It’s funny that as alienated as we are from animals in this modern world, people still feel compelled to draw them as if it were one of our core instincts. Argentine artist Maria Elina does excellent drawings of anthropomorphized animals. Excellent, I say. Trust me, I look at the internet all day. Read more

Surreal sculptures by Ben Wheele
Honestly, writing about art (and music, for that matter) is kind of an awful task because good art speaks for itself. Such is the case with Ben Wheele’s surreal sculptures and videos. I just finished illustrating a children’s story book written by Joshua Wilson called The UnStealer. Within this silly and fun collection of different scenarios, the UnStealer is a thief who steals the ‘Un’ from the front of descriptive words, ultimately turning negative events and feelings into positive ones. Attention agents and publishers!
Lindstrom, the man who single-handedly coined the term ‘minimal space-disco’ (well, perhaps nudged in the right direction by Orbital et al), recently released a new, rather ambitious, album, Where You Go I Go Too. Weaving between ambient trance and breakbeat-flecked disco, the producer responsible for the mesmerizing reworking of that tune we all secretly love, Roxy Music’s Avalon, has produced a worthy follow-up to his 2006 album, ‘It’s A Feedility Affair’. This time, however, there’s only three tracks, ranging between 10 and 29 minutes in length, and the Eno/Ferry influence is thankfully clear to all.
