Horseback
Horseback is the post-metal project of North Carolina multi-instrumentalist Jenks Miller. Psychedelic with some blackened harshness, the album is expansive in scope, demanding some serious attention or at least some heavy substances to match the heavy vibes.

Awareness Raps: Amber Tamblyn tricks Tyrese Gibson
When I read this article about Amber Tamblyn tricking Tyrese via email into thinking she was Amber Rose, I had no idea who either Amber was. Now I know.

Drawings of animals by Maria Elina
It’s funny that as alienated as we are from animals in this modern world, people still feel compelled to draw them as if it were one of our core instincts. Argentine artist Maria Elina does excellent drawings of anthropomorphized animals. Excellent, I say. Trust me, I look at the internet all day. Read more

Surreal sculptures by Ben Wheele
Honestly, writing about art (and music, for that matter) is kind of an awful task because good art speaks for itself. Such is the case with Ben Wheele’s surreal sculptures and videos. This invention by Doc XL is evidently at least seven years old, as this Boing Boing post from 2005 testifies. Surely sofas of 2012 that can transform into an entire backpacker’s inn exist by now? The AP Tour brought metalcore music heavyweights and a convoy of sponsor vans head-first into a stormy Seattle last night. The Hurley denim reps were rattled; they’d endured a long drive from Utah through what they described as the worst weather they’d ever experienced. Joking around with them before the show I realised how shaken up these guys actually were; hands were still shaking and their laughter was racked by nerves. Read more
