View of Earth from Mercury
This is a first. We humans created a space-traveling vessel that just orbited Mercury and was kind enough to take a photo to send back to its creators. The earth and moon are the obvious bright spots in the lower left quadrant.

Very cool, but not the first and not as deep in space… In 1990 Voyager 1 took a photo of Earth from 6.1 billion kms. Carl Sagan requested the Voyager camera to be turned around to get the shot. Google pale blue dot and you can see the image.
