Prangsta Costumiers
Prangsta Costumiers is a one-of-a-kind costume hire store. Indeed, stepping through its doors is often compared to entering into a real-life fairytale. The store’s owner, Melanie Wilson, has carved out a niche for herself that has even seen her costumes appear in Vogue, and worn by artists such as Damien Hirst.
Uniquely, Wilson styles every element of the costume, with no two hires ever the same. True to its roots, the trademark style of Prangsta comes from the collection of discarded vintage garments which Wilson recycles into wondrous new creations. The shop originally formed to rally against the waste that she saw in the fashion industry.

Bringing jockeys’ attire into the 21st century
A UK organization, Racing for Change, are on a mission to bring jockeys’ attire into the 21st century. Working with students at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, they have unwritten 250 years of tradition and gone back to the drawing board with silks featuring everything from bacon, bird droppings and even fruit machine symbols. What are the horses going to make of it all? Well, we can find out as the winning set of silks will be raced at Ascot, the UK’s premier racecourse, on July 9.

Jamie O’Shea take a bow, then a nap, then a bow again. This is brilliant, a contraption that allows you to catch some zzzs whilst maintaining your place in the coffee line. Even better, as our friends at Design Boom have noted: ‘The bed comes with noise canceling headphones, opaque sunglasses and a free-standing umbrella for napping in the rain’. Want. Read more

In the wake of America’s historic presidential election, nearly two years of divisive campaigning, and eight years of a controversial administration, the nation is in desperate need of healing. Beloved Internet personality Ze Frank started From 58 to 42 with Love where contributors use their webcams to post messages reaching out to the side of the country that didn’t vote for their guy. It’s saccharine at times, and there are one or two borderline nasty posts from people that don’t seem completely onboard with the project’s objective. But overall, it’s pretty effective and moving. I’ll admit I needed a couple tissues while reading it.
Already with a Spectrum show under their belt, The Archerbolds are an up and coming Australian band well worth checking out. I saw the Sydney-based lads play recently at the Mars Hill Café and it was evident that they should be permanently rocking out on a real stage; not in front of coffee sippers. Their floating lyrics, smart guitar riffs and meaty bass lines are infused by The Strokes, Mars Volta, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin — ultimately producing a freshly spun modern-vintage sound. Lead vocalist and guitarist Geoffrey ‘Gep’ Rectin says The Archerbolds plan to create a solid sound for next year: ‘Over summer, we’re recording an EP and working on a set sound, defining more of an image’. If their track, Rest Your Soul, is anything to go by, then it should be pretty dandy.
