Dana McClure’s Line Series
Dana McClure’s monoprint Line Series has left me hypnotized. She describes her series as containing ‘five films of various horizontal line weights and textures to explore the random application of color, transparency, frequency and order’. What she ends up with are 28 prints that look like someone took a box of markers and began drawing in this rhythmic pattern of back and forth. I’d like them all please.

New video for When The Night Falls by Chromeo
It took a few viewings for me to fully come to terms with my feelings for When The Night Falls, but ultimately my love for P-Thugg in yellow was the final push that persuaded me. Leave it to Canadian duo Chromeo to take every guy’s nightmare (pregnant Zombie-like ladies chasing after them) and make it so darn catchy.

I came across the British record label Finders Keepers within a little music shop in Austin, Texas, of all places. Browsing through the CD shelves looking for a good mix to help fuel my road-trip back to California, I spotted a spooked-out psychedelic jazz score to a 70s Czech horror film. It was so random and so strange that I knew that I had to have it. Read more

Double Parlour is an art collaboration between Ernie and Cassandra Velasco, who live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their art dolls have a vintage feel to them, but with a modern twist. Sad looking, young ladies carry monsters in their arms as pets. Monsters have arms that seem almost too long to hold up. Characters in fun, striped swimwear don’t seem like they’re having the least bit of fun. Yet, they are immensely fun to gaze at. Read more

I’ve yet to find out what they put in the water in Germany that generates such a consistently rich stream of good electronica. Carrying the torch at the moment is Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha du Prince, whose early 2007 release, This Bliss, landed on my doormat with a deep bass-kick and hasn’t left my iPod since. Read more
