Year of No Light
by Orchestral, moody, and alternating between bleak and hopeful, Year of No Light’s latest album, Ausserwelt, has the narrative peaks and valleys of an epic novel. The French ensemble gets lumped in with other post-metal bands due to their current lack of a vocalist, but with Shiran Kaidine from Monarch on guitar, there is a clear funeral doom and extreme metal influence — put some death growls over this record and it could pass for Skepticism.
