Brandi Strickland
Brandi Strickland sees strange things. Her artwork is a glimpse into the ‘other’, channeling the crowded info-hallucinations of a Terence McKenna and the like. They are smart, unusual and beautiful pieces, visual trips full of sacred stones, natives, models, plants, huts, stars, and planets. Like a download of random history poured into each collage.

Hotel: a sculptural work made from scavenged signage
Tom Fruinis a Brooklyn artist who just completed HOTEL, a new sculptural work made from colorful scavenged signage collected from all corners of the city over the past two decades and fronted by four-stroke red neon. The sky is falling. The world is ending. How do we deal with it? Since we can’t nail the CEOs and bankers that got us into this mess (instead, we’re bailing them out), let’s make light of the misery of people who make a living abetting the broken system.
Hmmm, I don’t know if it’s the extra strong coffee I’m gulping down, or that faintest slither of feel good sunshine that’s creeping through the blinds, but this song is making me feel mildly euphoric, and that kinda works right now. Play it loud. Play it through headphones. And imagine you’re decked out in day glo polyester with a dramatic burst of velvet lining. Damn, my feet just can’t stop from dancin’.
