Differences inspire me. If everyone had the same style as me, where would creativity and inspiration come from? Diversity in the world shocks us and opens our eyes to ideas down different paths to our own. Give me someone who disagrees with me any day over someone who is identical to me. That is inspiration.

Siri Hustvedt, inspired me, when she said in her novel, ‘What I loved’, ”Being alive is inexplicable…Consciousness itself is inexplicable. There is nothing ordinary in the world’…even on days when I wonder what the hell I’m doing or whether I’ll make it through my degree, it reminds me that the fact that we are even able to consider abstract thoughts like this is AMAZING. And being alive isn’t a given and it isn’t mundane, and I need to make something of life from there. And I will. There is nothing ordinary in the world..

People’s amazing drive to be different, to discover, to break incredibly stupid world records just to prove they can. People mashing elements together and creating designs that can not only look simple and amazing, but also solve problems in the world like hunger and water-borne diseases. Mass brain power. A shared sense of fun throughout a group of people. The ability and desire of humans to be absolutely useful and simultaneously absolutely pointless.

Music; beautiful, new, old, inspired, lyrical, the type that sweeps you up and creates those images in your mind that you can dwell on all day, the kind that makes me want to create. That moment when you find a song or band that just clicks perfectly with your life.

My grandson inspires me, he has fought for his life since being born premmie 2 years ago , He has had so many life threatening moments and must have had a fair bit of pain. But he is the most happy easy going little boy despite the tubes he still has in his body. When i feel rough or want to have a whinge I look at him and think if he can still smile after all he has been through , my life isnt too bad .

What really inspires me is human action. Meaning what people do in life that impacts the lives of many others who is unaware of what happens to them when one action leads to another.
Melissa Gilchrist Tuesday 28 September 2010
My children inspire me. Before I had my children I felt my life had no direction but now that I am raising them, I find that their innocence and enthusiasm for life has renewed my own “joie de vivre”. Looking at their faces as they try something they like for the first time or experience joy is far more inspiring than anything that costs money. (For me anyway!)

Most music inspires me in different ways, except what I call “offensive ear music” or what other people call death metal, that just inspires me to turn off the noise.

My daughter inspires me more than anything in this world, her amazingness she shines everyday, learning new things and battling emotion. She in my the one inspiration i can say is real and there everyday to remind me how lucky i am. When i think of the wonderfull things i can do with her and places i can show her, we live in a big wide world and i am inspired by young minds that will one day take over from us. Thats inspiring if anything that evolution has a course and we cant change that only educate. I am also inspired by this X10 mini cause its bound to fit in any pockets and be light and stylish too.
SABINE Tuesday 28 September 2010
My 3 year old daughter has autism, the way she sees things differently inspires me. Shes not afraid of what other people think, does what she feels. She will never be a follower or a sheep, shes always going to have her own little quirky personality. Things are not black and white for her, she looks outside the box. Shes my inspiration for everything!

Other people insire me, the ones that have gone off and done something they were told they couldn’t, or the ones who do the things they want to regardless of how they appear, or what personal discomfort or danger they might find themselves in. The ones who dream, and the ones who do, the ones who look for the circumstances they need, and when they don’t find them they go out and make them.

What inspires me is how people who have a disability go out of their way to help other people who have just found out they are disabled in someway .because of an illness or injury

For my photography work, the natural everyday life of people inspires mem especially when they don’t know they are getting know they are getting photographed. It is the simple things in ife life a dog in a park, a child jumping in waves or people finding their way home after a long night out that intrigues me. It is what you do with the things around you as well as the people that make every moment worthwhile. A little music can also go a long way, no matter what it is there is always a track that suits the occasion and the way people create these masterpieces inspures me.

Knowing that if i stay in bed too long my toddler will climb out of his bed and ‘make a mess’ on the floor INSPIRES ME to get my act together each day!!
Charlotte Wednesday 29 September 2010
Breakfast inspires me. It drags me out of bed. It feeds me.
You know those stand out days – the ones that shape your life? There might only be a dozen and they might have all ended in different ways: joyful tears or a hard lesson learned. But the thing is that every one of those days started the same way for me. Every day that has ever mattered in my life, started with breakfast.
So when I reach for that cereal bowl in the morning, there’s that quiet promise that it could be another milestone day.

Life with all it’s ordinary beauty, orderly confusion, and simple complexities–and its plethora of paradoxes too!
Jamie McGraw Wednesday 29 September 2010
People that start with nothing in life and go on to achieve great things inspire me. Life is not a race but if it were, the starting mark is further back for them. They achieve great things through hard work, necessity and believing in themselves. Whether they create a beautiful piece of art, start and support a gorgeous family with nothing but love or do something that’s never been done before, these are people we should look up to.
Tim Wednesday 29 September 2010
The interplay between nature and man inspires me – we live in a world where we have built so much and created so much, and yet we still have so much to learn from nature. The more that we learn about how the world is created, the more we are inspired to build and create from that new knowledge.
Oliver Thursday 30 September 2010
What inspires my creativity is the intersection of art, music and graphic design that is a beautifully crafted music video. A music video is a snap shot of an aspiring film director and his interpretation of the lyrics, sounds and ideas of a diverse group of talented musicians brought together in a band. The abstraction of the idea from musician to director to viewer creates a multitude of possibilities from which to draw inspiration. Through my interpretation I create another layer to the meaning of the song, a lens in which to see the song often different from the intended meaning of the band. This creates fertile ground on which ideas, dreams and concept germinate.

Blah blah blah. Free stuff inspires me.
Emma Thursday 30 September 2010
everything inspires me: trees growing out of cracks in buildings; the way different music transforms the same bus ride to work into something exqusitely beautiful & new every day; art in unexpected places.

I’m a spontaneous kind of person; I guess all artists are on some level (and who’s to say who’s an artist and who’s not?). There is nothing that doesn’t inspire me. From a conversation to what I have for dinner. The messiness of my room to a single word that pops up in my head. The frustration of life to colour. Seriously, is there anything you CAN’T gain inspiration from? Nah.

I am inspired by natural phenomena and the world around me – The Northern Lights, The Orion Nebula, Hell’s Gate (Uzbekistan) – These amazing occurrences and magical visual opportunities instil hope and dreams within me, allow me to put things into perspective, and help me to realise what a truly beautiful universe we live in.
Love and protect yourselves and our planet earth! ♥

My husband inspires me, because he is so curious about everything. No day goes by without him trying to understand his surroundings even better. He has an urge to learn something new every day and tries really hard to suck all information in. There is hardly anything you can’t talk about with him. He proofs to me that it does not matter how old you are you can learn something new every day.

The courage that some individuals have to live their life *their* way. Where not money, social status, nor material possessions can cast away their drive for what they are truly most passionate about. These are the individuals that inspire me — these modern rogues.
Kudos and happy weekend (or whatever’s left of it)!

Now, I don’t mean to sound sceptical, but it strikes me (ironically) that inspiration isn’t generally something that jumps up and slaps you across the face like a wet flat fish.
For me at least, it is one step in a long process of consecutive experiences; watching the flat fish grow from an egg to an adolescent struggling with its developing identity (‘are my eyes really meant to look like this?!’), through to adulthood, perhaps having some fishy offspring of its own, and finally lying battered on its final, ceramic resting place with only some mutilated peas and fried potatos for company. Whether such a tail (see what I did there?) inspires a ‘flatfish have rights too’ campaign, or a trip to the local chippy, it is the culmination of a much longer story.
When Newton “discovered” gravity, I’m pretty sure that the apple just knocked some nurone out of kink and completed the last link in an already developed thought process (‘how am I gonna pay this damn mortage?’) into a finished idea (‘I’ll make up a name for some phenomenon everyone already thinks they know everything about’).
Appropriatley then, this is something that’s been annoying me for a while now. People need to stop ‘waiting for inspiration to hit’. Sure, boredom has produced some great innovations, but I reckon real inspiration comes from experience – putting yourself “out there.”
I suppose it’s ironic then that this competition seems to have proved my proverbial apple. Well, maybe a crab apple anyway. It’s not as if I’ve changed science or anything. Although hopefully readers will now think twice before sitting down to a flat fish dinner. So they appreciate the taste even more…

I’m inspired by passion. People who are passionate about who they are and what they do lift me up and inspire me to delve into life, when I’m around passionate people my soul is lifted and I feel like I’m going to change the world.

inspiration is something we are not born with it comes thru life experience.” Going from having everything to having absolutley nothing” or “going from having nothing to having anything & everything” (imagion the inspiration in that). constantly striving to achieve the promise i promised myself; to not be moulded into the shadow of the one person whom i never want to be like, sadly, i speak of my own mother..
My inspiration is my two children, and the fact that although people dear to my heart, constantly cause me nothing but confusion & heartache, but, still (for the sake of peace & my children’s well being) I continue to be th “bigger” person as the bible sais… ANGER PROFITS NOTHING!! And that is my inspiration, Thankyou.

The person that inspires me to be a better father, a better husband for my wife and a better person to everybody around me is my son. He is just 22 months old but I would do anything for him. I’m sad to leave him before I go to work but I look forward to seeing him again every moment of the day. His smile his laughter and my son just being himself inspires my life.
Lyndel Tasovac Sunday 10 October 2010
What inspires me?……the skinhead on the bus that stood so I could sit down…the old lady in our street that confidently lives alone….the kid on our soccer team, who goes year after year without a scoring a goal…a kind word from a stranger when i really was feeling flat…..and my fourteen year old son heading out onto a cold October beach with a huge smile on his face and his surf life-savers cap tied proudly to his head…..inspiration is all around us…..but we have to ‘want’ …. ..to see.

what inspires me are people who think I can’t do as well as I can or think they can do better than what i can, and when i either achive my goal or do better than the other person i feel positive about myself and I am able to give them a “I told you so.” being inspired is about rising above the odds and stereotypes that people put on you.

My son inspires me everyday to be a better person. He brings out the best in me. Friends and family inspire me for different reasons, each one is unique. Seeing people that have been told they can’t achieve something and then they reach heir goal and more completely inspires me to do more for myself and for others. Everything is inspiring in it’s own way, it’s simply the way you look at it as to the effect it has on you.
