Heidelberg Project
I recently passed through Detroit and saw the Heidelberg Project, an amazing street installation by Tyree Guyton. It felt like walking through a ghost town that had been ravished by art zombies, hauntingly beautiful and particularly sad on the rainy day I was there.

We lived in downtown Detroit for three years and loved walking through this about every six months just to see what was different. Here in Austin it is the “Cathedral of Junk”, which we visit every Fathers Day. This type of art installation is key to democratizing art in general, and more importantly, helping people realize that art does not have prescribed boundaries, nor is it something that should only be viewed quietly in ‘hallowed halls’.
