OFF Festival is a unique event on the map of summer music festivals in Europe. The organizers invite only indie, low-fi, experimental, and avant-garde artists who are worth showing, including bands like The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. This year’s special event is devoted to Frederic Chopin. Born in Poland 200 years ago, the composer’s music will be mixed by artists such as Fennesz and William Basiński. In addition, well-known artists, like Wilhelm Sasnal, are invited every year to paint murals in the city. This year, the OFF Festival has changed the location from Poland’s Mysłowice to Katowice. Definitely worth visiting.
Kuba Kossak is one of the most interesting young Polish filmmakers. He’s got a solid music education, so his great shots are always well matched to the music. Check out his recent shoot for Maleman Magazine.

Letterpress company Sapling Press smartly produced a ‘we go together like’ collection, with less conventional pairings that beats cheesy Hallmark on Valentine’s Day. Read more

It promotes a statistically-founded world view, and somehow makes that fun.
When you first hear William Elliot Whitmore’s voice, it’s hard to believe he isn’t a grizzled old man. The baritone-voiced one-man-band does rousing bar room ballads on the banjo and guitar that are sure to send shivers down your spine. On closer listen, Whitmore’s voice does seem slightly affected. But like Tom Waits before him, his voice is likely to age like a good scotch.
Listen to the William Wlliot Whitemore track, Dry.

I recently photographed the launch party for Mutewatch, a really cool new watch that works just by swiping it just like an iPhone. Very cool. Nice party as well.
