Jason Urick
by I’m trying to figure out why Jason Urick’s hypnotic, polyrhythmic, and often ambient sound isn’t rave music. Is it because he has a beard? Or maybe it’s because there are textures, samples, and haunting drones that Urick puts together in a coherent, but often fragmented way that force you to zone in rather than zone out. You have to pay attention, even through the repetition, because the former WZT Hearts member is trying to piece together a narrative rather than a mere groove, even if there are parts that make you want to move your body.
