The Land of Giants is a vision from Choi+Shine Architects to transform mundane electrical pylons into statues on the Icelandic landscape. These amazing designs could be created by making only small alterations to existing pylon design.

There’s a great story behind this prog-surf film. Riley Blakeway was an aspiring surf film-maker with incredible talent and a handfull of small film projects to his name. Chippa Wilson was a relatively unknown but amazing aerial surfer without the opportunity to show the world what he could do. In 2009, they won STAB magazine’s Little Weeds competition, respectively taking out the film-maker and surfer prizes. Read more

This is such a great idea. I have the standard powerline structures in view from my home. They are big and ugly. I really wouldn’t mind looking at these customised structures instead.

Love this idea. As an engineer i’d say that while it’d be much more expensive to have customised structures, it really makes a cool statement.
