The chaos and confusion of Lebanese-born, Dubai-based artist Jeffar Khaldi’s artwork reflect the conflicts, disruption, and constant remaking of history endemic to the region he calls home.

With a definite American presence in his work, Khaldi’s politically charged work jumbles violent, erotic, and religious subjects, with a hint at a general malaise towards the modernity, industrialization, and colonialism that begat much of the strife in the Middle East.
