My Milk Toof

Normally I find inanimate objects talking and expressing themselves rather creepy, but with My Milk Toof’s stars, Ickle and Lardee, I can’t help bush gush with childlike joy. These two talking teeth (yes, teeth) were created by artist Inhae, who as a child, always wanted to know what happened to the teeth she put under her pillow.

Inhae has a blog dedicated to the adventures that these two teeth seem to always be going on; with activities such as cutting coupons, pretending to be superheroes, and deciding who gets the top bunk. And while this might sound silly (which it is), there is something so sweet and humorous about these characters that it makes me wish my teeth were that exciting.

New video for When The Night Falls by Chromeo

It took a few viewings for me to fully come to terms with my feelings for When The Night Falls, but ultimately my love for P-Thugg in yellow was the final push that persuaded me. Leave it to Canadian duo Chromeo to take every guy’s nightmare (pregnant Zombie-like ladies chasing after them) and make it so darn catchy.

Finders Keepers Records

I came across the British record label Finders Keepers within a little music shop in Austin, Texas, of all places. Browsing through the CD shelves looking for a good mix to help fuel my road-trip back to California, I spotted a spooked-out psychedelic jazz score to a 70s Czech horror film. It was so random and so strange that I knew that I had to have it. Read more

From the cutting rooms of Dior through to the backstages of the Babyshambles, and even These New Puritans, it seems former Dior designer Hedi Slimane has seen it all. But his newly published photography concept book — Rock Diary — leaves me asking many questions about the symbiosis of fashion and music, especially the glorification of renowned drug addict Pete Doherty. French duo Trop Tard make straight-faced, Suicide-esque, synth-and-guitar electro tunes that sound like dark rituals performed in the catacombs beneath the streets of Paris. Repetitive, bleak, and cold, this is dance music for the shambling undead.

When my uber-creative and slightly eccentric twin brother announced one day that chainmail would be making a return, it only confirmed that he’d missed out on the fashion genes. But after checking out the fingerless chainmail glove in Toby Jones’ new collection — My hands are tied — it now appears he had a legitimate vision. Working a look straight out of a Mad Max scene, Jones’ designs will have us accessorizing in true post-apocalyptic style, using everyday objects as adornment. But you don’t need to be cruising around town in a black Interceptor to appreciate them. Be your own character with chain swinging padlocks and multi-purpose shoelaces. It’s about time you got your hands into something different.
