Don Lucho’s Paper Apartment
Welcome to the Casa de Karton; a real apartment created entirely out of cardboard and paper by recycling artist Don Lucho. It comes fully furnished with items that one would normally find in a kitchen, bedroom or bathroom. And to further expand on his carton fetish, Lucho very appropriately designed a car in ruins; seen mounted on the Santiago de Chile street front curb as part of the project. PS: watching the hilariously brilliant car crash in action is a must!

Paper engineer art by Benja Harney
Every time I see Benja Harney working on something I am amazed, not just at the intricate detail of everything, but the deadlines he works to and the clients he is working for. He is a paper engineer, making sculptures, illustrations, pop up books and objects out of paper. I recently went to an exhibition of his called the Paper Attic where he filled a room full of all things you would find in an attic: ice skates, wine bottles, records, books, all made from paper.

All proceed of the doll’s auction will benefit Project Angel Food, an organisation that works to provide food for people affected by HIV and AIDS.

Designer Haik Avanian has set up a website through which you can send an old sweater for his mom to reknit into a new item. Seeing as he only has one mom, not all orders can be filled, but you can keep trying.
There are two kinds of metalheads: those that are drawn by the hyper masculine, angry, aggressive aspect of metal, and those that are drawn by its Wagnerian drama, themes of pagan nature worship, and disdain towards modern civilization. The line between the latter and hippies is quite thin. I am one of these sorts of metal fans, which is why I also really love bands like The Lickets, an empyrean, luminously beautiful, experimental folk collective. They make music that makes you feel like a tiny speck floating in the vast oceans of existence, perfect for a night of star gazing, just like Burzum’s fourth album, Filosifem.
Keep it simple stupid. That’s the idea behind this design. Fashion label Eleventh Commandment wanted to created something that was as far away from the Ed Hardy ‘cram as much shit onto one shirt’ approach as possible. Voila.
