I want to photograph queer young people so I can do a photography project which increases the visibility of queer young people’s individuality and experiences. I work with queer youth and love photography and story telling so I want to do this project with photos and stories together. The trouble is I always see opportunities for a great photograph, but I don’t have a camera that is light enough, whilst also being good quality, to carry with me all the time to make the most of those opportunities. The fact that the Samsung NX10 Digital Camera is so light and also has Video recording abilities means I can also record stories for the project, as well as doing portraits anytime the right opportunity arises! I live in Perth, Western Australia.

My neighbor’s house is a complete disaster. I am no landscape architect, and I live in an apartment on the other half of a dentist’s office, but seriously people. This moss and vine encrusted shell of termite and squirrel infested timber is going “back to the earth.” And soon. Recently the power company had to come and reinstall all of the electric lines and meters that go from their house to the street, because they had been chewed to pieces by the squirrels that live in walls and attic of their house. The owners are a married couple, who I assumed were senior citizens. They aren’t really that old. I would put them in their mid 50′s. The husband always looks under the influence, and has tribal tattoos on his arms. He is WAY too old for tribal ink in my opinion. The wife wears sweat suits. All sweat suits, all the time. They mope, and stay inside, while the weeds and vermin overtake their house. I wouldn’t mind so much if kids weren’t afraid to come to our apartment on halloween, or if the ant population from their place wasn’t oozing over state lines.
I would photograph this house. From the same vantage point, everyday, at the same time, for a year. I would then post these images on the internet, perhaps in stop-motion format, so that nature’s ability to take back a city housing lot when not attended to could be witnessed in a 3-4 minute segment. I think it would be beautiful, sad, and totally worth watching. I live in Iowa City, Iowa.

I would then love to photograph the children who come there. I want to take pictures of them in their new school uniforms and take pictures of them when they recieve their first ever school books. I would then love to take these pictures home; show them to my friends, my family, the kids at my school, even you guys, so that– as cliche as it may sound– everyone can see what a truly beautiful world we can create.

I live in the dress circle estate, in the burbs of sydney. It is a little suburb built in 1960 as LJ Hookers first exhibition home estate. Many of the original houses are still here. Very funky / 60′s / brady bunch styles with stone walls and cactus gardens. All of the streets in the suburb are named after famous Australian performers.. There is : Melba drive, finch ave, cilento crescent, bronhill st, Elliot ave (after comedienne Madge Elliot) among a few others.
I want to photograph all of these cool houses and the plaque to LJ hooker thats in the middle. I would like to capture a few at night with a family eating dinner around the table with the view we have of centrepoint tower out in the distance.

I’ve heard a secret floating around about a lady. I plan to track her down. She is a hooker with a beard. Her name – Beatrice. She has pet cat named Solomon Southerby who has one eye.
Why? I’m sure it would make for a better photo than usual flowers/kids/lanscapes and do you know a beareded hooker with a one eyed cat? I can only assume not, however If you do it’ll make my search alot easier.

I don’t think it would be right for me to technically try to win the Samsung, but if I did win it, you know what I’d take photos of?
My family. They’re real funny looking and all have great faces with a whole lotta expression. Mum is one of those European ladies who just recently started wearing colour again (after wearing black for three years!!) and you can really see the change in her face.
My sister has the most amazing eyes and the prettiest complexion that has been passed down to her son, who I really do think is the cutest kid on the planet. I like his peaches and cream skin and the look he gets on his face when you catch him sticking his finger in places they shouldn’t go (cakes, power points, in his eye).
And I’d take photos of paths. I really like windy paths. I was in Apollo Bay for the weekend and luckily met these guys that were part of the Melbourne Camera Club, my friend got so excited and said how she’d love to join. I didn’t say anything because the camera I own is a lil’ Olympus that barely knows how to focus, but Bert, one of the Camer Club members said that ‘it is all in here’ while pointing to his head. So I’d also like to take a photo of Bert’s head.

I would try capture the moments that allow me to see the world from another angle, if only for that fragment of a second. I want to see the extraordinary in the the ordinary and how beautiful that can be. I want to capture that which make us question the status quo. Everything eventually always seems to change, for better or for the worse – I want to look back and remember ‘how things used to be.’ I want to capture the people/places/things that make me smile, laugh and cry. I want to remember where I’ve been, where I’m going and how it felt to get there. Time goes by so quickly, I want to slow it down. I want to be able to see things close up and just left of frame. I want to capture the things that mean something to me.
I want to capture….something.

I would take tonnes of photos of the places I love about Sydney, the beach (I love the beach), the rocks, the sea, trips along the coast, the pool, the habour, ships, boats and ferries, the bridge, city architecture, people, houses, the seasons, flowers and plants (I like agaves ang fig trees), art and festivals (Vivid and the Biennale at the moment) and fun other events (like kite day at Bondi), parks, lots of landscapes, the sky (maybe a sunset), my holidays and trips overseas, my friends wedding, the zoo, the gardens, food, the markets, sports, things that are graphic, colourful, have pattern or contrast. And my family and friends. Maybe a couple of the cat. The usual stuff around me – just special to me.

I’m from Houston. I love my city… But not alot of people do… Even many Houstonians hate it. Bill Murray described filming “Rushmore” as being “stuck in a godforsaken little city” or something like that.
Nay!, I say to you, this city is not godforsaken, nor is it little. It’s a little weird, and built on a swamp, but once you get to know it, it can be quite likable… and the oil refineries at night are the most romantic thing!…
I’m interested in photographing my city, the parts of it that seem relatable to the world at large and the parts that are distintly Houstonian in nature… I’d like to find the sense of place in Houston and to share that sense with those who doubt its existence and those who’ve known where it’s been hiding all along.
I’m tryna rep my town!
