What If Men Wrote Hallmark Cards
Our friends over at Cool Material have compiled a selection of very clever Hallmark Cards, written by mythical men with very little tact. Oh, right. That applies to all men. Anyway, they describe the male dilemma as such: ‘On one hand, you can’t not get her a card because then you’re in the shit. On the other hand, if you get her a card that sucks, isn’t heartfelt, or she can’t put on the fridge, you’re in the shit. We decided that since we’re pretty much screwed regardless, we were going to make cards that said what Hallmark never could — what men were actually thinking’.

Time cover shows mum breastfeeding her 3 year old son
Is this taking the whole concept of shocking cover images too far? This Time Magazine image shows 26 year old mum, Jamie Lynne Grume, breastfeeding her 3 year old son with the headline: ‘Are you mom enough?’. The story tackles the complex issue of child attachment, in the most blunt of ways. Anything for free publicity, I guess. And yes, we feel into the trap as well. Well, you know what they say about a sucker …

Crazed text messages from panicked scorned girl
Ok, so this is a good reminder why one night stands don’t always pay off, especially when one half of the stand reads too much into the previous evening’s, erm, activities. Out of Australia comes this bizarre, one-sided text correspondence from a girl directed at the guy who bedded her, then discreetly sent her on her way. It’s painful to read, especially as the texts were all unleashed over a period of, wait for it, a day. Check out the full stream of messages at Buzzfeed.

Photographer Richard Mosse’s artistic photographs of war and humanitarian disasters addresses the viewers’ desire for rhyme and reason in the face of such atrocities. In his Quick series, Mosse documents the conflicts in Congo using infra-red film, which make his images seem magical and serenely beautiful, but reality continuously lurks in the faces of refugees and the rifles brandished by purple-uniformed soldiers. Photographer Judith Dekker creates poetry with her camera. As I sift slowly through her portfolio, I am inspired to jot down small rhythmic sentences to match her mystical work. Yet, in this case, for fear of putting myself on the line, I will use someone else’ gifted talents to compliment her images: ‘Because I am not the same person who wrote what he reads with such great yet divided attention’ – Spencer Selby.

NASA has released some pretty amazing audio recordings of sounds from the moons of Saturn. The weirdest thing about them is that they actually sound like Theremin warbles and echoey whooshy sounds from ‘50s movies about space.
Two of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met own and design the ridiculously cool clothing line, Kane & Unke. It’s pretty much all I have in my closet. They used to be sold exclusively at Metropark, but have recently fired up their own online store which I’m told will be up and running around July.
