Reflectius clock
Today and Tomorrow just posted this sweet clock designed by Art. Lebedev Studio that form digits via 60 little rotating mirrors that bounce a laser beam. The design and concept seem really retro-futuristic, and would have been a great set piece for Back to the Future II.

Clock made from a recycled turntable
I have a thing for vinyl, so I don’t ever see myself recycling my record player. But I really like the idea Stuff Made From Stuff had. They’ve turned a Sanyo turntable into a fashionable looking wall clock. In fact, when you browse through their online shop, you will find all kinds of funny recycled clocks, such as the Hard-Drive clock, the Old Magnetic Tape Reel clock, and the Mac G3 Computer Motherboard clock (including harddrive and mouse). What a fine way of making use of outdated spare parts. Read more

Hong Kong-based home appliance company Homeloo has some pretty sweet (and cheap) wooden digital LED clocks if you’re sick of buying stuff from Ikea.

Pieter over at Today and Tomorrow doesn’t like the ridiculously goofy and saccharine music of Swedish electronic act Familjen, but right now it’s making me grin. I agree, though, that album art for their (his) latest album Manskligheten is pretty amazing and more complex than the music itself. The artwork was the result of a collaboration between photographer Erik Wahlstrom and the design studio Bergen. Read more

OMG I love BMD. When I first saw the work of BMD I almost crashed my car. After moving to Auckland from Melbourne, I had thought my days of seeing kick arse street art were over. How wrong I was! BMD is one of a number of very talented folks painting on the streets of New Zealand. Also check out Seekayem and Flox. Read more

Oh, ok, so now I’ve seen it all. Or perhaps, in this case, I’m not seeing enough. Japanese game shows are so much fun. Seriously.
A soviet-era monument in Bulgaria commemorating World War II armed forces was recently vandalized: the figures were all turned into pop and capitalist icons such as Ronald McDonald, Superman, Santa Claus, and Captain America.
Our friends over at Sex In Art recently posted the work of Japanese artist Aya Kato. Says Justin, the founder of the site: ‘I have this folder on my desktop titled Cool Shiat. It’s where I save all the inspirational images I find on the net. I’ve just finished filling it up with Aya Kato’s amazing images. Argh wow. Wow, wow, wow. I won’t say anymore. Just check her work out for yourself’. Read more
The frontman for Sydney trailblazers, Paper Scissors, has just dropped his first solo EP under the alias of Pork Pies, and it’s an absolute beaut. Like the Paper Scissors’ more low-key numbers, there’s a real feeling of raw nostalgia running through the record. Jai Pyne’s distinctive vocals linger on your eardrums for a while after they’ve ceased, anchored down by a poignancy and sense of longing.
