Monkey Picked Tea
Chinese legend has it that the most delicious wild tea leaves grow on steep hillsides, inaccessible to humans. So why not train monkeys to go get the tea for you? In one remote mountain village region of China, this incredible tradition continues, where monkeys are specially trained to climb and collect the tea on the mountain face. The result?
Apparently, the most gorgeous — and rare — brew you’ll ever tasted, chock full of antioxidants and soothing goodness. And don’t worry animal lovers – the fine folks at Edible, who produce the tea, promise no monkeys were harmed in the making of your cuppa.

When I was in Bali we had Civet Butt Coffee which is the most perfect coffee beans selected by the roaming wild civet and then passed through its digestive system to make the most stonking coffee.

I am really surprised and disappointed that you would promote something like this….or is it all about advertising dollars? Explain to me how this is not exploitation of innocent animals who would much rather be left alone in peace to swing through the trees, rather than being held captive as indentured slaves? Absolutely disgusting. I sincerely hope the target market for this product THINKS before they buy.

Here’s what the company that makes this product has to say about all that: ‘No monkeys are harmed or mistreated in order for us to bring this rare brew to you! In fact the monkeys and their ancestors before them have been doing this job for generations and are treated as respected members of their human keeper’s families.’

I highly doubt the monkeys keep up with demand all by themselves… (sound of a whip cracking).
