Hansen Tacker T-35 stapler

Space is in too short supply to fill it up with unstylish objects. Even something as mundane as a stapler must be a beautiful expression of fine craftsmanship and impeccable design. If you agree with this statement, you should go get yourself one of these Hansen Tacker T-35s.

Linda Kim

The work of Linda Kim makes me think a lot about the motifs that seem to be seeping into every artist’s work these days — forests, mythological creatures, crystals, geometric patterns, and new age psychedelia. Read more

Real human brains art

Fine, skull art may be a little played out at this point, but come on, this one is made out of real human brains!

Beautiful stuff. I like the mix of classic hand work with a pixelated aesthetic.

Whether it’s fabric-draped people in mid jump or chihuahuas and Easter Island heads standing on cheeseburgers, Hundley takes an almost Dadaist joy in making random, giddily puzzling images. I’m kinda obsessed with this track by Kansas City hipsters, Republic Tigers. Maybe it’s the Phil Spector-ish wall of sound harmonies or perhaps it’s the thumping bass riff, which drives the ear worm melody. Whatever. In these times of throwaway pop, it’s the well crafted and subtely produced songs that are truly memorable, and these guys have it in spades, as reflected right across their brilliant debut album, Keep Color.

Matthew Dear’s Black City album totem

Our friends at Ghostly International are releasing Matthew Dear’s Black City album as a limited edition ‘totem’. A what? A totem – a limited edition metal bar used to access a private music chamber. Cool! We liked the idea, and checked in with Ghostly creative mind Will Calcutt to find out what the totems are, what they do, and what’s next. The totem is a black, industrial-style metal bar that unlocks stuff on the web, right? ‘The totem is a sculpture cast in bonded aluminum and it has a code that can be used to download/stream the new Matthew Dear album, Black City.’ Read more

As a visual learner, the illustrated cooking instructions for the recipes on Recipe Look are easier for me to follow than the standard written recipes found in most cookbooks. I wish Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall would do an illustrated River Cottage book.
