Angus & Julia Stone’s Down the way
by The wonderful sound that comes from Australian duo Angus & Julia Stone just keeps getting better. Their latest album, Down The Way, due for release in March, is again full of stunningly beautiful melodies. The style continues from their previous album, A Book Like This, with the tracks swapping between Julia’s enchanting vocals and Angus’s rougher, more melancholic style. Listen to their first single from the album, And The Boys, below and tell me if this isn’t a band set for stardom?

Brilliant animated video for new Gotye single
We love the animated video for the new single from Belgium-born Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist and producer, Gotye. He releases Easy Way Out on November 28, the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, Making Mirrors.
Emma Davis’s debut self-titled album has been on frequent rotation in the Lost At E Minor offices. Recorded out of Newtown, the album is full of delicious melodies which allow her voice to shine through. The killer track is Machines, which you can hear after the jump. Read more

While the Belizean Islands are some of the most beautiful and tranquil in the world, Belize City is one of those uninspiring places that most people travel in and out of very quickly. However, if you do find yourself stranded there, as I did, the city does have one redeeming attraction. Approximately twenty kilometres west of the centre, you’ll find the Belize Zoo — which the founders call the ‘best little zoo in the world’. It relies on charitable donations and has gained huge respect for housing native Belizean wildlife, such as jaguars, howler monkeys, tapirs, ocelots and toucans, in natural, tropical surroundings. If you’re there on the first Friday in April, you can even join hundreds of visitors in celebrating the birthday of the zoo’s resident tapir, April. The zoo has an awesome rasta-vibe, and the hand-written information posts are guaranteed to make you giggle.

Hotly tipped by a handful of soothsayers to take 2009 by storm, Trembling Bells are an altogether different and refreshing musical experience to much of what seems to excite people at the moment. On first listen, it’s fairly easy to ignore — one could casually shrug it off as some limp take on Scottish baroque folk. Yet, there is something more to it. Rarely do you hear that high-pitched, warbling voice in mainstream music. Likewise the marching band cacophony going on in the background is both daring and highly intriguing.
